Mastercard leader pagamenti contactless in Italia: nel primo trimestre 2017 le transazioni crescono del 270%. I pagamenti in Italia sono sempre più digitali e Mastercard conferma il ruolo determinante nel favorirne l’aumento nel nostro Paese: le transazioni contactless, infatti, hanno registrato una crescita del 270% in termini di operazioni e del 250% in termini di valore.
A dicembre 2016, Mastercard ha raggiunto l’importante traguardo di 25 milioni di carte contactless in Italia, confermando l’impegno nel promuovere la tecnologia su larga scala, grazie a partnership con istituti finanziari e grandi retailer. E la crescita è continuata anche nel primo trimestre 2017.
“La continua crescita del contactless nel nostro Paese dimostra che questa tecnologia è ormai affermata tra i consumatori italiani e rappresenta uno standard di mercato. Nel mese di marzo, in Italia una transazione Mastercard su quattro effettuate ai POS è avvenuta in modalità contactless, percentuate tripla a quella dello stesso periodo del 2016” afferma Paolo Battiston, Division President Italy & Greece di Mastercard.
Negli ultimi anni, Mastercard, in sinergia con gli acquirer, ha contribuito significativamente all’adozione di POS di nuova generazione e a far crescere la rete di accettazione contactless in Italia: nel primo trimestre 2017, infatti, il numero di POS contactless è cresciuto del 70% rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2016.

Il contactless ha raggiunto anche il sistema di trasporti pubblici cittadini e le cooperative e compagnie di taxi, soprattutto nelle grandi città come Roma e Milano. Dallo scorso dicembre è possibile anche accedere al collegamento Malpensa Express usando un qualsiasi carta contactless direttamente ai tornelli d’ingresso dedicati a Milano ed ai terminal T1 e T2 di Malpensa evitando la coda per l’acquisto del biglietto cartaceo.
Tra le ultime attività promosse da Mastercard a favore del contactless, anche l’iniziativa realizzata in occasione della Finale di UEFA Champions League a Milano: per la prima volta è stato possibile pagare in modalità contactless, in tutti i punti vendita dello Stadio Meazza.
