FreciousPlus cabin filter: Mann Hummel is waging war on allergens, molds and particulate matter. According to the World Health Organization, allergies are now the fourth most common chronic illnesses worldwide. In Germany alone, allergies affect some 20 to 25 percent of the population. Residents of larger cities and industrial locations in particular are highly exposed to particulate matter, and this can favor the onset or outbreak of allergies. In order to reliably protect car passengers, experts increasingly recommend the use of anti-allergenic cabin filters.
An effective blocker of allergens and bacteria
Even in cars, pollen, bacteria and other tiny particles can provoke allergic reactions in the vehicle occupants. These particles enter the passenger compartment via the fresh air supply or the air conditioning system. Thanks to cabin filters – also known as pollen filters – the air drawn into the vehicle is cleaned before it even enters the vehicle interior. With its new FreciousPlus cabin filter, MANN+HUMMEL is tackling this issue head on. The global market filtration leader has now developed a filter layer with a biofunctional coating, which not only binds allergens. It also prevents molds and bacteria from entering the passenger compartment through the ventilation.
Allergens are tiny proteins which are found in pollen. When pollen bursts, it can release allergens which can enter the vehicle interior while traveling. To prevent this, the new FreciousPlus cabin filter harnesses the action of polyphenol: this active substance can be found in many plants, for example in green tea, providing protection in a myriad of ways. As a component of the biofunctional coating, polyphenol acts like a cage for any free-floating allergens and binds over 98 percent of these.
A further function of this biofunctional layer is its antimicrobial effect. FreciousPlus blocks the proliferation of allergy-triggering bacteria and molds. If contact with the filter media surface or other particles as well as influences such as moisture, heat or coldness stimulate the pollen, dangerous allergens can be released. This is precisely where the anti-allergenic capability of the FreciousPlus cabin filter with its additional filter layer comes into play.
The high-performance filter medium prevents the ingress of up to 97 percent of hazardous particulate matter. Particulate matter includes particles with a diameter around 70 times smaller than a human hair. These particles are particularly dangerous as they can penetrate deep into the lungs. Ultrafine particles can even enter the bloodstream via the pulmonary alveoli and as a result, can cause serious health problems such as cardiovascular diseases and lower life expectancy.
An additional layer on the new cabin filter also eliminates unpleasant odors, for example toxic gases such as ozone, sulfur dioxide or nitrogen oxide. The air purification process is based on the high-quality activated carbon granulate, which is derived from coconut shell.
FreciousPlus is available throughout Germany. Car drivers can find information on the product and its functions online at www.frecious-plus.com. You will also find the right cabin filter for your vehicle here and a supplier in your vicinity.
Function guaranteed with regular filter changes
A vehicle ventilation system draws in huge volumes of air from outside the vehicle into the passenger compartment. This means hard work for the cabin filter, and over time, the filter medium becomes clogged due to the particulate load. For this reason, only a filter which is changed on a regular basis can offer a healthy climate for allergy sufferers, asthmatics, children and frequent travelers. It is therefore recommended to replace the cabin filter once a year, or every 15,000 kilometers.
When it comes to cabin filters, there is still a fair way to go in terms of raising awareness, the filter experts from MANN+HUMMEL explain. Their aim is to inform car drivers of the issue and show them how their vehicle can become an allergy-free zone.
