Sustainable relamping in Piusi. We are proud to share a small sustainable achievement that has big consequences. By revamping and modernising the technology used for lighting our shop floor, we are reducing CO2 emissions into the environment by 94 tonnes.
We are proud to share a small energy-efficiency milestone with big consequences that we achieved in December 2021. And we have chosen to do so today, on World Energy Saving Day, because sustainability is one of the key values of the PIUSI corporate culture.
We owe a lot to our local community in terms of productivity. And it is precisely to our local community that we are committed, day after day, to give back as much as we can in terms of environmental protection, containment of emissions and sustainability. For ourselves and future generations.
LED ILLUMINATED
We have modernised and revamped the entire lighting system of our over 30,000 square-metre facility, with the primary objective of reducing the costs and consumption of electricity and all related maintenance activities and, at the same time, implementing a sustainable lighting solution that is as energy-efficient as possible.
Not to mention improved lighting conditions for operators with health benefits for optimum optical comfort.
So, we have replaced all conventional luminaires with LED lights. In practical terms, we replaced 428 luminaires, specifically:
– 271 100-watt luminaires
– 157 50-watt luminaires
These numbers are important for us. In energy terms, we are talking about a saving of approximately 240,000 kWh/year of electricity, which corresponds to:
– 45 TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) saved
– 2,650 trees or almost 8 hectares of planted forest
– not emitting 94 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
