Sitting is the new smoking!

PROFICIENCY_sitting-woman-smokingSitting is the new smoking! The Proficiency Index team is collecting and concluding the annual report on the Businesswomen’s Buying Survey for 2014. The trend towards mobility purchasing is a given. Mobile devices are now the preferred buying device, as is women’s preference to work ‘wherever they are’: at home, in offices, in cafes, in trains, in planes, in hotels and in cars. Check out the latest ‘browse and buy’, spend trends when the report is published on Friday 11 July.

No surprise that the findings continue to highlight the increasing freedom for users to buy what they want, where they want, when they want and how they want. There are no rules. Manufacturers, wholesalers and dealers must urgently rethink how they reach and satisfy these new users. Traditional structures are collapsing in distribution; and business and consumer differentials are blurring into business to user marketing (B2U). Time to rethink and get with this exciting challenge!

As we pass the half year it’s a good time to reflect and look forward on the BIG market issues: beyond the paperclip; beyond buyers; beyond the wholesaler/reseller structures; beyond sedentary work towards the new mobile user-chooser marketplace that wants and needs personalised productivity services.

We have published the half year leaderboard of the 2014 Productivity Championship, the most publicly recognised measure of resellers’ profitability success.
